Hannity loves Hannity, and The Truth on Faux News

In the next couple of weeks, Hannity and Colmes, will become Hannity. Alan Colmes, who has been the “sort of” liberal co-host on the show for the past 12 years will be leaving. I am guessing that he is leaving because he has developed a major drinking problem from taking a shot every time Hannity says “Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, or radical”.
Fox News, proving once again that they are anything but Fair and Balanced, has decided to leave the slot open and allow Hannity to repeat his GOP talking points without anybody else on the show to help him by repeating the GOP alleged Democrat talking points. So, in the spirit of fun, lets look at who would be good to take over Colmes spot.

Keith Oberman- Oberman is everything Hannity is not. He is well read, has an advanced vocabulary, has and is very quick witted. He would bring the viewers a great counterpoint to Hannitiy’s cheerleading, and force Hannity to have to back up his babble with some facts.
Ed Shultz- While I am not a huge fan of Eddie, I think that it he would be the person who would be most likely to come across the desk and kick the living hell out of Hannity.
Bill Clinton- It would confuse Hannity to no end when he had to blame Clinton for everything, and Clinton was there to defend himself.
Sean Hannity- He could just get talking points from the DNC every day , and read them as well as he does from the GOP. It would have no convection behind it, but hey, it is Fox news.
The Truth- Hannity would walk away from his show before he would allow The Truth to be broadcast.
The bottom line is that Fox News lies the American public each time they say they are “fair and balanced” or “the most trusted name in news”. Fox news was formed as a message board for the extreme right in our country. They have been very successful in doing so. Now, they don’t even attempt to be anything else.

The Story Of Christmas

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Merry Christmas to all. Love, The Truth

Come On Twins!!!

I have not been inspired to post in a while, however, when I started this post, I promised to rant about sports every now and again, and today is that day.
I am a MN Twins Fan. I am a MN Vikings Fan and I am a MN Timberwolves Fan, pretty much in that order.
Boy what a difference 3 months makes. Three months ago, the Timberwolves looked to have improved, with a young lineup, with some good talent and a few less of Kevin McHale’s overpriced free agents.
The Twins were the shining example of how to be compeditive in baseball on a small budget.
And the Vikings were looking about ready to fire Brad Childress.
Today, the Wolves have went backwards (though, I suppose on a macro level, the more they lose, the better draft choice they get). The Vikings have rode a 37 year old QB out of their slumps, and now handed it over to a new guy who is wearing Taviris Jackson’s uniform.
However, it is my beloved Twins that bring me to grumble. The Twins lost out of the playoffs by one game. (Technically they tied, then lost the tiebreaker). They needed upgrades this off season to move behound the first round of the playoffs, and again make a run at post season glory.
In looking at their team, they needed upgrades at 3B at SS, and they needed somebody to replace Pat Neshek in the 8th inning set up role.
So far, they are 0-3, and according to an article in tomorrows Star-Tribune, they are planning on standing pat.
So for you Twins fans, the best that they can do is come into spring training next year with 3 utility players (Brian Bucsher, Little Nicky Punto, and Brenden Harris) at SS and 3B and some combination of Boof Bonser and Matt Guerrier to pitch the 8th.
Come on. We Twins fans who have been so supportive for so many years deserve more.
Take a lesson from Kevin McHale and overpay when the team really needs somebody. Perhaps Marko Jarik did not pay off, but guess what, Latrell Sprewell did for a year.
Take a lesson from the Vikings, and go out and get the player you need. Where would they be if they did not get creative in the signing of Steve Hutchinson a few years back. How about Darrin Sharper? How about Big Pat Williams? How about going out and getting the trade done for that Mullet wearing red neck Jared Allen?
Come on MN Twins. Do SOMETHING!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

On this Holiday season, I would like to take the chance to list just a few of the things I am thankful for.

1. I am thankful that I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and children. I am so proud of each of them for what they are and for what they will become.
2. I am thankful that I live in a country where we can have great discussions on public policy without the fear of death.
3. I am thankful for Barack Obama. He has shown already to be the wise pragmatist I always knew him to be, and not to be the inexperienced socialist his political rivals made him out to be.
4. I am thankful for the kids of the area that filled the Fargodome with food this week. Truth Jr. filled up his backpack with our food this week, and that food will make somebody’s life better.
5. I am thankful for the hard working public servants who are working on the MN Senate recount. Regardless of who wins, these people are doing a duty for our country and deserve our respect.
6. I am thankful that Jay Thomas is now on WDAY, and not Sean Hannity. That Tracy Briggs and Erik Johnson are on in the morning and not Scott Hennon. Our community needs good ambassadors of the area on the radio, who move the debate along, not GOP Cheerleaders.
7. I am thankful for Dave Neithing. The GOP State Senator won his re-election campaign by 8 votes. Good for him. While we do not agree on everything, he he deserves our respect for the way he handled himself during this recount.
8. I am thankful for the Minnestoa Twins. In a time when the Vikings and Timberwolves put a product out that is almost unwatchable, they compete year after year. They play the game right. (on a side note, I am thankful for Dick-n-Bert, they make my summer nights memorable)
9. I am thankful for the farmers who allow on this non-landing owning hunter to hunt their land. The family Truth will enjoy venison all winter this year.
10. Finally, I am thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While I am often short in my duties as a Christian, his love and promise makes me better and stronger. For that, I am his steward her on Earth.
May everybody have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Nuclear Option

Now that the smart kids are back in control in Washington, we will finally be able to stop the flow of right wing idiologs to lifetime appointments to the Federal bench. However, all nominations will be approved by majority vote in the Senate; however, as in the past one Senator can stop debate by the use of the “technical” filibuster.
This was a method used by Senate Democrats to keep out the most radical of Bush appointee’s.
When the GOP did not like this, they threatened to blow up the system with what they called the “Constitutional Option” but the rest of America called the “Nuclear Option” which would blow up the Senate rules and eliminate the filibuster in the case of federal judges. They also launched a PR campaign that acted as if it was the responsibility of the Senate to pass all of Bush’s appointments without questions, as long as they had the technical qualifications for the position.
However the “Gang of 14” compromised to stop the nuclear option from happening, and eventually Bush got his two right wing appointee’s to the Supreme Court.
Now that President Obama will soon have the power, I would like to predict that some right wing nut job will forget everything I mentioned above, and try to block the first of the Obama appointments. If they do, they can thank the formally minority Democrats for letting them do so.
