1959: Boy and Farmer Lose Limbs in Farming Accident

Marlyn Heerens, 27, and Ronald Hinrichs, 11, both slipped on canvas grain carriers while combining and were drawn into the machine. Both lost part of their right legs, below the knees.
The accidents occurred within four hours and 13 miles of each other in Nobles County.
Heerens said: "You put this in your paper, and tell people to be careful around machinery."
