Streaks overwhelm the Eagles
The Streaks came out and rumbled right over the hapless Eagles 58-6 , what a game ... My apologize for missing the action in person , i havent missed a game in years as a Streaker fan ... But with the rain pouring down here at my home i was hesitant about running out and getting my gear wet ... Sorry to all you parents ... i had no idea that the only rain pouring down in New York Mills was that of the Silverstreak running attack onto the Eagles ...I did however capture the game in my imagination as i listened to it on the radio , thank goodness for 107 fm great coverage , still doesn't beat being there live and in person to see the action first hand ...but like many of the readers of this blog whom are away and can't be there to watch live ,you can try to capture the action in the words of the writer or DJ and let it flow in your imagination's. It sounded to me like the Streaks were able to sustain a great rushing attack and spread the ball around ,and again there was some awesome rushing by Chris Ludwig , as he was led by the power blocking of Dominic Baker and that powerful offensive line... Chris as usual seemed unstoppable , this Streak fan can only imagine what the Streaks team could have done last year had Chris, and Dominic been healthy all season ... They had all the other componants they just lacked the consistancy of a power runner , they had plenty of quickness in Charlie Jennings and Jesse Becara , but just couldnt seem to come up with a quick powerful fullback type player .... anyhow one can speculate all they want i guess ... but the fact is this team is from listening and watching the games this season , right on track ,and really clicking as a team ,which is the key to success in any sport ...
I guess the only concern would be from friday night is probably special teams in regards to extra point's after a touchdown ..it seems this oculd become a major concern down the line in a close game where 1 point could prove the difference .... Sure some would consider it a free point and in some regards i suppose it is ...But you still have to get it all together and right ...Your center has to time and snap that ball right on cue and on the money..The line has to come in hard and knock the defense back off its base ,and the holder has to catch the ball , place it set and hold it smooth all in a matter of an eye blink so the kicker can get his foot down ,and under it and pop it up and straight through the uprights ...it seems easy but it's not for many college and pro teams used to struggle with this ... It was nice to see that the Streaks could get in for the 2 point conversitions ... and could practice on this during the romp over the Eagles ...
Many fans were expecting a romp as the Eagles just are going through some transistions this season , but not to be taken totally light , as they did show some great penetration at times on our offesesive line stopping our backs for little or no gain from time to time .... But that should be expected from the Eagles as they generally do play physical up front , and do put a lot of players in the box ....
This was a great game to get all the kids involed and that is exactly what Pat and Company did ...its a great time to look at other players and options to build on for future games .... and i think the Streaks will do just that ... and they will need to as the visiting USA Patriots will be coming into Osakis friday night for home coming and looking to be disruptive as usual as they always seem to give it to us .... I beleive the last time the Streaks were undefeated and played USA the Patriots pulled it out by a long field goal and went on to win it by 3 ...if memory serves me i could have my wires crossed , but hopefully come friday the Streaks wires will be clear and precise ,as they take it to the Patriots ...I look for this to be a very different game than last friday , where the Streaks could open it up bust through some big holes and gain some huge real estate ..in but a handful of plays , with times of real physicla play in the trenches... No i look for USA to come at us hard up front , they generally love to play physical , and like to jam the box and swarm to the ball ...So our challenge will be to win some one on one battles and break some holes and juts wear them down ... i look for it to be a big battle on the line , with a few yards here and there then a big run or two ... i think that offensivly we may be forced to pass a bit more to free up the lanes up front ... I look for some big downfield passes to Adam , and Ben , and work Cole into the mix some ... but again it will rely on the great hand off control of Devon , the offensive lines ability to make a lane ,the power blocking of Dominic and the fleet power running of Chris Ludwig , and DEFENSE .... but in my opinion the main asset to our whole plan of attack will and might just boil down to how well our special teams play ..we will need great field position while also needing to pin them back to a long field , and control the ball and the clock ....The special teams has had some awesome games this season then had the ut owe game at UNC , where they had the drop me's .... i think much like against UNC they have to hold onto the ball , as this will be a close call game...
USA will mirror our offense so the defense will have its hands full , controling and hitting those gaps in the running lanes to slow down the Patriot runners ....This defesne has been steelar when they fill their assignments ... and i again look for another big night from them ... the key will be ball control / clock control and who can break the big one ...or in the case of our defense contain the big one ...are defensive backs will need to have help from a speedy powerful defensive line in applying pressure to allow them to get into position ...and they will be called upon to keep the ball out of the air , and to cover the coners ....
Anyhow it should be another awesome Streaker game ...and Don't be like me last week and miss it ...This is one game if you can be there, this is one that will be a battle and a fan favorite to watch in person .... you won't want to miss it ...plus its home coming what better time to come on out and lend your support and cheer these kids on .... This will be a close one ...so cheer loud .... and cheer the boys onto sweet victory !!! GO STREAKS !

Owe and again my apologizes for missing what proved to be an awesome game ... my body was gone but my spirit was there ...Go streaks ...

GO STREAKS !
Now something different , i blast from my old high school home front : Wilmington Wildcats - the cats are 6-0 and doing it in dominating fashion as they have romped every team thrown at them thus far , averaging over 40 points a game and 300 plus yards on the ground per game with a defense that has given up near to 0 points as starters as i can tell , and very few yards or fist downs for that matter ... They love to run and come out of a double wing t and bring it to you ,... they feature several running backs with at least 3 of the 5 breaking 100 yards a game averages ... but here is the neat thing ...they are in one of the toughest conferences in 3A ,Illinois , and have faced some of their toughest oppenants and have still powered over 300-400 yards a game on the ground ... but the interesting thing was what hit me this last week when they faced of against Seneca , as the boys made their grand tradition their entrance onto the field from the woods through the line of fans, cheerleaders and rumbling Harleys "Harley Davidson motorcylces" (yes Illinois has some awesome football traditions and are always adding something entertaining to the mix to boost the fans and energize the players ) the boys did something that night that i hadn't seen for years from a wild cat team ... They came out knowing that Seneca was commited to stopping them up front so they brought everyone to stop the cat running attack ... the box was full , the lanes jammed , but what did coach Southhall and Reents do they came out passing , yes i said passing , and they lite it up for over 200 yards in the air and a 42-14 victory , and still pounding out over 200 plus on the ground , they scored 271 points while giving up 54 , most by second string ... they are now seated 2nd in class 3A in the state rankings ... their defense is avergaing 2 turnovers a game .... these guys are much like are Streaks ... i just thought it would be fun to pop in a mention of my old high school ... i just love high school football and catching up ... and thought to the many fans of the game like me they would find it interesting .... but what grabbed me most not only are they blowing teams away but that when they need to they can switch over and fire the ball downfield , making it even tougher to stop them ... and if they want to run they run and boy do they ever .... anyhow my cousin Barry Southhall is one of the coaches back home and i always find it interesting to see what they are doing ... and it makes my heart soar to think again they are dominating atop the I8 conferance and appear to be on their way to great things at state keeping up the winning tradition of commitment to excellance on and off the field ... These boys work at it hard , they hit the weight room early and often with the goal to reach state but not only to reach it but to be a major contender in the hunt for the elusive title as state champs ...who knows maybe this will be their year , and maybe the year of the Streaks as well .... Anyhow thought it maybe interesting ...
